Frequently Asked Questions

What to Expect at Your Visit

Your first visit is designed to give you answers, clarity, and a personalized plan for moving forward. Here’s how the process works:

Before Your Appointment

Before your visit, you may be asked to complete forms in advance, and it’s helpful to bring a list of your medications, symptoms, and any past reactions.

During Your Appointment

Your provider will review your medical history and symptoms, perform a physical exam, and talk with you about your concerns. Depending on your needs, diagnostic testing may be recommended. You’ll have time to ask questions and understand each step of your care so you feel informed and supported throughout the visit.

Testing

If testing is part of your appointment, it may include skin testing, spirometry, patch testing, pulmonary function testing, immune system evaluation, or rhinolaryngoscopy. Your provider will explain why each test is recommended and what the results can reveal about your health, ensuring you know what to expect before anything begins.

After Your Appointment

Once your evaluation is complete, you’ll receive a personalized treatment plan tailored to your symptoms and goals. If allergy testing is planned, your care team will let you know whether you need to avoid antihistamines beforehand so your results are as accurate as possible. Follow-up visits may be scheduled, and your care team will guide you through medications, immunotherapy, lifestyle recommendations, and ongoing support to help you feel your best.

Allergy Questions

Symptoms may include sneezing, nasal congestion, itchy or watery eyes, skin rashes, or digestive discomfort. If you suspect allergies, our testing can help identify triggers.

We use advanced diagnostic methods, such as aeroallergen and food skin testing, to accurately diagnose allergies at our Tulsa clinic.

Yes, we offer allergy testing for both children and adults at our Tulsa clinic, emphasizing early diagnosis for effective management.

Your care team will let you know if any medications need to be paused before testing and will provide clear instructions to ensure accurate results.

Patch testing identifies substances that may be causing allergic contact dermatitis, a condition in which the skin reacts to items it comes into contact with. This testing helps pinpoint allergens commonly found in everyday products.

Patch testing involves placing small panels containing tiny amounts of common allergens on your back to see how your skin reacts over several days. The patches stay in place for about 48 hours, and you’ll return for one or two follow‑up visits so your provider can check for delayed reactions. This process helps identify which substances may be triggering allergic contact dermatitis.

Aeroallergen skin testing helps identify environmental triggers—such as pollen, dust mites, molds, and pet dander — that may be contributing to your allergic symptoms.

Some medications can be evaluated through skin testing or supervised desensitization. We offer drug skin testing to help diagnose specific medication allergies, and our specialists can guide you in determining whether alternative medications are safe for you.

Yes — for certain medications, we provide safe, supervised desensitization protocols.

Allergy testing at our Tulsa clinic is typically not painful. Our experienced team ensures your comfort throughout the process.

Asthma Questions

Diagnosis typically includes a medical history review, physical exam, and lung function testing such as spirometry.

A quick, non-invasive test that measures airflow and helps assess asthma severity.

Spirometry measures lung function and airflow. It aids in diagnosing asthma, determining its severity, and guiding treatment decisions.

Common triggers include allergens, exercise, cold air, respiratory infections, and environmental irritants.

Yes — many patients have allergy driven asthma. Identifying and treating allergies can improve asthma control.

Treatment may include inhalers, controller medications, trigger avoidance, and immunotherapy when allergies contribute to symptoms.

Immunology Questions

Frequent infections, slow recovery, chronic inflammation, or unusual reactions may indicate immune dysfunction.

Testing may include immune panels, vaccine response evaluation, and diagnostics for immune deficiencies.

Yes — we evaluate and treat patients with repeated or persistent infections.

We evaluate immune involvement and coordinate care as needed.
