I met Dr. Husain and his research professional team at the Saint Frances Wellness Health Fair held in the Saint Frances Wellness facility on January 2010.  One of the researchers’ Jody was providing screenings for anemia.  I had previous diagnoses of chronic anemia. I requested the screening to see my current level to see if there had been any improvement since my last lab work with my primary care physician.  The screen was completed very professionally by Dr. Husain’s research staff.  The results did confirm no significant improvement had been obtained in my chronic level of anemia.  I discussed the results with Dr. Husain and his assigned researcher and agreed to participate in an anemia research study.  The study has been conducted with the greatest level of professionalism and confidentially. I was provided additional screenings and a complete documentation of the study to review possible risks and benefits.  The researcher also reviewed the studies’ risks, benefits and goals with me prior to my participation beyond the initial screenings. The allergy clinic is located in an easily accessible attractive medical complex. I have been seen timely at each visit and my progress or symptoms have been monitored closely.  Although not a guarantee with participation in the study my anemia has been successfully treated.  I have been able to maintain an improved iron level consistently for the last several months.
